This morning I went out onto the town oval at Darkan and had my first flight with what is billed as "your flying camera". DJI's tagline is "The Future of Possible" and I think that is very fitting. A few years ago I never would have thought that aerial photography would have been possible without getting my feet off the ground in some sort of aeroplane or helicopter. But this morning I took some amazing aerial images while standing on the ground!
I took photos of the Darkan and District Sports Complex - the official opening of the upgrade and extensions is being held on Friday. We are extremely privileged to have such amazing sporting and community facilities in our small rural town, but there has been a lot of input by the local community, both financially and physically, to get the facilities we have.
A flying camera has been on my wishlist for some time, but I finally took the plunge and after researching prices online I found a special on the dji Phantom 2 Vision which included a free second battery. I prefer not to buy from overseas if I can, and I supported a local Perth business MAS Hobbies because they could match the best price and provided the free battery even though they had sold out of the special offer units.
This new flying camera is going to be great for taking farm photos for farm albums. There are so many applications that I am think of for using it. Can you think of a place that you'd love to see aerial photos of?
